A Santa Clara bowl

A Santa Clara bowl

The year is 1927, my grandmother Bertha Kingston was teaching elementary school in Alamosa, Colorado. She bought this bowl and an all black pot from the artists selling their wares on the dirt streets of Alamosa. The pieces are unsigned and the potters are not known.

A Raku vessel by the potter, Kurt Mangus

A Raku vessel by the potter, Kurt Mangus

A Raku vessel by the American potter, Kurt Mangus. In the summer of 1985 I had the great fortune to spend the summer working at the Anderson Ranch Art Center in Snowmass Village, Colorado. I was fortunate enough to acquire a few clay pieces from the great potters who were teaching the summer workshops. I also played in Aspen that summer.
